Tanzania, the jewel of East Africa, continues to shine as one of the top tourism destinations on the African continent. With its stunning landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and growing reputation for peace and hospitality, the country has recorded a remarkable increase in tourist arrivals from 1,711,625 in 2021 to 5,360,247 in 2024. This impressive growth lays a solid foundation for Tanzania to become the leading tourism hub in Africa.

Our country is blessed with some of the world’s most famous attractions. Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, continues to attract climbers and adventure seekers from all over the world. Serengeti National Park, famous for the great migration of wildebeest and zebras, remains one of the most spectacular wildlife events on the planet. The Ngorongoro Crater offers a unique habitat teeming with animals and is regarded as one of the ecosystems with the highest concentration of wildlife in Africa.

Beyond wildlife, Tanzania offers diverse experiences that are rare to find elsewhere. The islands of Zanzibar, adorned with the scent of spices and a rich history blending Swahili, Arab, and European cultures, provide a fascinating glimpse into centuries-old heritage. The crystal-clear waters of Pemba and Mafia attract visitors for relaxation, diving, and exploring vibrant coral reefs. Meanwhile, the southern parks such as Ruaha, Katavi, and Nyerere are gaining popularity for their untouched wilderness and unique tranquility.

Tanzania’s greatest strength lies in its peace and stability. While some parts of the world face security challenges, Tanzania has maintained an exceptional record of peace, making it a safe and attractive destination for tourists. This peaceful environment not only enhances the quality of visitors’ experiences but also draws long-term investors to the tourism sector.

The government continues to improve infrastructure, including airports, roads, and digital services, making travel within the country easier and safer. Campaigns such as the film “The Royal Tour” have helped elevate Tanzania’s image internationally.

This is a golden opportunity for Tanzanian youth, entrepreneurs, and families to actively participate in the tourism sector. From establishing small hotels and lodges, restaurants, handicraft businesses, transport services, and tour guiding, to offering local products and traditional cuisine and the opportunities are numerous and continue to grow every year.

Tour guide Daniel Moshi from Arusha says, “I have worked as a tour guide for many years. The number of tourists is increasing significantly, and many say Tanzania is safe and unique. Our youth should not miss this opportunity. Investing in tourism by starting small transport companies or offering tourist services can bring them a good life.”

Tourist driver Fatuma Hassan from Moshi says, “Every day I drive tourists to Kilimanjaro and Serengeti. My income has increased a lot since 2021. Our peace attracts many visitors. I encourage the youth and businesspeople of Arusha and Kilimanjaro to participate by starting businesses related to tourism. The opportunity is here now.”

Mountain porter Elias Kileo from Marangu, Kilimanjaro, concludes, “Kilimanjaro has given me a livelihood for many years. The number of climbers is increasing, and many return because of our peace and hospitality. Young people should take action now to learn tourism skills, invest in lodges or services for climbers. Tourism can bring us real development.”

With its natural attractions, safety, and warm-hearted people, Tanzania is well positioned to become the best tourism destination in Africa. Now is the time for Tanzanians to take action to explore, invest, and actively participate in the tourism sector in order to build a better future for ourselves and future generations.
